   Cavalier x Shih Tzu (CavaTzu): 

This is a beautiful mix of the quiet Cavalier mixed with the playful nature of the Shih Tzu giving us a pup that should retain its puppy like behaviour well into its adult life. They love human companionship making them ideal for families or singles looking for a great indoor pet. This mix would be considered low to no shedding.

Coat: A beautiful wavy coated pup that is slow growing and low to no shedding it is tolerated by most people with dog allergies. Due to the slow growing nature of the Shih Tzu coat they may require less grooming than the Poodle crosses.

Size: Expect this cross to get to approx. 5 - 8 kg and between 20 - 30cm tall

Diet: Pups in this store are fed a fresh meat and a quality dry kibble mixed a minimum 2 x day. 

Exercise:  CavaTzu’s will enjoy going for walks and playing ball,  but they are not an over active breed so they will enjoy lots of time cuddling. They may become overweight if diet and exercise is not maintained

Personality: These pups should be personality plus and shouldn’t be wary of strangers. 

They generally enjoy the company of other dogs and do well when socialised early.

Lifespan and health : The expected lifespan of a CavaTzu should be between 12 and 15yrs. The major problems that can occur include, Tracheal collapse & breathing problems (Brachycephalic Airway Syndrome), Cherry eye (all generally associated with the very flat face of the Shih Tzu), and Luxating Patellas.
